Reverse Circulation Drilling (RC)
RC drilling is a form of percussion drilling that uses compressed air to flush material cuttings out of the drill hole safely and efficiently. Thanks to the benefits enjoyed by this method, it’s become a popular technique in mining exploration and is one of the most common drilling methods across the mining sector Reverse Circulation is used in drilling programs for initial exploration and resource definition.
The exploration team then collects the samples, aligns them to the hole depth, and lays the layout for their client to log. From here the sample is transported to the lab for assay.
RC drilling achieves higher production rates and can achieve up to 200/300 meters per day. This means that results can be delivered to clients faster, as the drilling itself takes less time. The speed and efficiency involved also reduce manhours on the drill rig, meaning savings on overall staff hours.
